4/13/09 - Mike & Debbie Kelley win the Muscle Shoals Showdown

21.20 lbs. took the title at Wilson Lake. All teams weighed a limit for a total of (70) fish. The average fish size was 2.94 lbs. and 100% were released alive. Congratulations to all of our winning teams.

3/26/09 - The start of the 2009 season is here

The 2009 season begins Saturday March 28th. The bite at Guntersville is great right now. The water temps have reached 60 degrees and lots of fish are in the shallow pockets. The weather forecast has been of concern for this weekend, but it appears that we may be OK. Looks like the worst of the weather is supposed to pass in the early hours of Saturday mornng so hopefully this will all pass before blast-off. The forecast for the remainder of Saturday is Partly Sunny. Winds are forecast for 10 to 15 mph which hopefully won't be as big of a problem as normal as most people will probably be fishing protected areas anyway. We will make every effort to hold the tournament as scheduled unless conditions become unsafe. Hope to see everyone on Saturday. Also, we will not be holding a pre-tournament social event for this tournament due to not being able to reserve a banquet room in the area. Anyone who is not preregistered can sign up at the ramp.

(Above) I managed to get the video camera out for a while this past weekend and got a few samll ones on video. I caught a ton of small ones this weekend, but not many quality fish. Had a good time anyway!

3/18/09 - The bite is great at Guntersville. Don't miss the next tournament.

Huge bags of bass are being weighed at Guntersville tournaments. It hasn't been uncommon to see (5) fish limits of over (30lbs.) the past couple of weeks. Our tournament on the 28th could be one for the record books. I haven't been catching the big ones like some, but I have managed to catch quite a few. The water is 52 to 58 degrees in most areas with a slight stain. You can catch'em on about anything you want to throw right now, but the key is finding an area with the fish grouped up. Get in the right area and you can bag 20+ pretty quick.

(Managed to get the video camera out between rain showers on Sunday and caught the one above)

3/3/09 - The start of the 2009 season is near. Season Kicks-off with The North Alabama Open on March 28, 2009.

The fishing is turning on at Lake Guntersville with most tournaments requiring weights in the upper (20) lb class to win. The water temperature is currently in the low 50's, but should warm to near 60 degrees by tournament time. The all time couples weight record held by Ron and Elaine Holler of 25.31 lb's may be in jeopardy. This should be a great event and a great time to invite your friends to try the couples trail. This is an open event and no ABA membership is required. Pre-register to get an early blast-off position. I'll be posting some fishing reports over the next few weeks.
